We are providing an affordable alternative way start your coding journey from
coding bootcamps or online courses for busy people that needs more flexibilty.
Limitations of coding bootcamps
An intense solution for a quick carrier switch
programing teachers are very expensive due to high demand add to that all the
traditional cost of a school, there is simply no way to make that cheap.
By leveraging community thinking, DEVAZUKA is able to focus on providing a
good environement without the burden of paying teachers
3 month is not a long time to get a skill, they have to focus on superficious
learning, only teaching one way to build things but avoiding real knowledge of
computer science, in the end to succeed in the industry you still have to
learn by yourself
DEVAZUKA doesn't kick you out after 3 month, as long as you find value
in this environement you are welcome to take part of it
You have to be available everytime at the school hours, this is simply not
flexible enough for most people with a job.
This stiff timing also mean slow learners get left out, fast learners get
bored, it's one size fit's some.
DEVAZUKA is open from 8h to 22h, your learning is self paced, take all the
time you need, skip all the things that don't interest you.
Because they have to evaluate you, bootcamp students can often get trap in a
mindset of trying to achieve what is evaluated over actual knowledge.
This punish creativity, out of the box thinking and push students to limit
their over all knowledge to the scope of what will be evaluated.
DEVAZUKA avoid this by simply only giving way to self evaluate, the only
person you can cheat or impress is yourself.
Limitations of online courses
Providing great content for cheap, they are the fastest growing way to learn
with best in class teachers is reporting as low as 4% of the participants
completing the courses.
Few of us are able to learn alone, without guidance and peers, it's easy
to stay stuck on little things, in the long run those can easily convince us
to give up.
We strongly believe that building a network of trustful and motivated people
is as important as learning new skills, if not more.
Too many options
Learning to code online is a great example of the paradox of choice, we have a
curration problem and it's a challenge to filter the good from the bad.
We always wonder if our time could be better spend on other courses and it
often impede or limit our implication
DEVAZUKA experienced coders carefully curated list of books, videos and free
courses and will recommend you a fiting option to stay on track
No follow up
So you are part of the 4% who finished a course, now what ? the business model
of online course is not about helping you further, you may be stuck in a
tutorial loop that never connect to something actionnable.
DEVAZUKA goal is to keep being a supportive environement even once you start
working on projects, and to connect the community to help them build
Our own limitations
Every solutions has trade off, we do not expect to fit everyone, but we want to give
an option for those left out
For the community to be healthy we need mature and resourceful members, do not
expect to be spoon fed or follow a tight track like traditional education
A physical space and cheap price limit our capacity to scale, DEVAZUKA is only
available for the lucky few that are able to join us in Lisbon.
The downside of flexibility is that we can't garanty who and what will happen
when, this means the overall experience can greatly fluctuate depending of
factors out of our control.
